Saint Martin de Porres was a lay brother of the Dominican order who was known for his many efforts to help the poor. He established an orphanage and children’s hospital while living an austere lifestyle.

Saint Martin of Tours was a bishop of Tours. One of the best-known stories of him describes how he used his military sword to cut his cloak so he could share it with a beggar freezing in winter.
