Saint Edburga was also known as Saint Eadburh was born a princess, daughter of King Edward. She gave up her royal lifestyle with her father's permission and instead lived the life of a humble servant of the Lord. She became a nun at Winchester Abbey where she was eventually appointed the abbess.
The monastery was well funded by the King and Saint Edburga flourished as a nun and abbess giving a great deal to the community. She was known for a kind and gentle spirit.
Her feast day is June 15th.
