ST. BARBARA
Virgin and Martyr
December 4th
ST. BARBARA, dedicated to Christ,
suffered martyrdom in 235 or 238.
The place of her death is uncertain.
Her legendary Acts state that she was the
daughter of Dioscorus, a rich heathen.
Upon professing the Faith, she was
martyred together with St. Juliana.
PRAYER
Father in heaven, who among the other
miracles of Your power,
have given to men and women
of holy faith the victory of martyrdom,
grant, we beseech You, that we,
who are celebrating the birthday
to life eternal of Saint Barbara,
your virgin and martyr, may,
through her intercession, one day
receive the reward of eternal life
in your heavenly kingdom. Amen
