St. Christopher dates from the year 250 and is popular today all around the world. St Christopher carried travelers across a stream, rather than merely guiding them to a safe place to cross. One day he carried a small child whose weight nearly crushed him. When they were safely across, the child revealed himself as the Christ Child, bearing the weight of the world. St Christopher gained his name (Christ-bearer) and his patronage (travel and travelers) from that day.
