First Communion dresses are made of white fabric to remind us of our baptism. The color of a First Communion dress symbolizes the purity of the soul which has been prepared to receive Jesus. The First Communion dress should be simple, yet elegant. It is NOT a bridal gown; it shouldn't be “sexy” and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Rather, it is a dress worn in honor of the “King of Kings, our Lord.” The First Communion veil, headpiece, or head covering is a symbol of humility. The true beauty is in the soul… while the dress is a reflection of the desire to show respect for our Lord and Savior. We long to receive our Lord; “Like the deer that yearns for the running stream…” Psalm 42.
It is our hope that this day will be especially memorable and meaningful…with a bit of help from the Catholic Faith Store!
